Funeral services were held at the Bainbridge Methodist church Tuesday morning for James I. Modlin, 74, of near here who died at the Putnam county hospital in Greencastle Saturday afternoon. Burial was made in the Brick Chapel cemetery. Mr. Modlin had been ill about a week following a paralytic stroke. He was born in North Carolina on April 2, 1865, a son of Edmond and Martha Owen Modlin. His wife, the former Mary B. Singleton, died October 1, 1938. Mr. Modlin was a well known farmer of this community. He was a member of the Bainbridge Methodist church. Survivors include a daughter Miss Martha Eleanor Modlin of Lafayette, two sisters; Mrs. Hannah Hargan of this place and Mrs. Flora Anderson of Greencastle; and three brothers, Fillmore Modlin, William Modlin and Samuel Modlin, all of near here.
